As I’m sure, most of you know by now Jan and I are no longer your District Directors. After serving three plus years we have decided to step down and allow someone else the opportunity to take over. The couple selected for the position by Dave and Gwen Carter (Region E Directors) is Gary and Arlene Carlson. Gary and Arlene have been active in GWRRA for a long time, serving in many positions and have always held the good of GWRRA first in any of the positions they have served.

In looking back over the past years, the one thing that stands out for us is the people that we have met in our North Dakota District family and throughout all of GWRRA. Thank you all for your support and friendship, two things that we cannot place a value on.

As we look back, we see how easy it is to get caught up in the details. What we mean is the staff meetings, get togethers, newsletters, web pages, ride schedules, fund raisers and on and on and on. Granted, these things are all an important part of GWRRA and should not be taken lightly. That being said, we believe there are times when we just need to get back to basics, back to the "Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge". Here are a couple of excerpts from the GWRRA Officers Guidebook that can help to get us grounded again when we let some of the details get in the way of who we are.

Established in 1977, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association provides an atmosphere for fun, safety and knowledge to Gold Wing & Valkyrie motorcycle owners.

Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) is a leader of associational organizations, respected by its members as well as competitors and the communities it operates within.

GWRRA is a family-oriented, non-religious, non-political association comprised of owners of Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycles as well as non-Gold Wing owners, our associate members.

GWRRA’s divisions work harmoniously as a team to increase the membership base by creating an atmosphere that provides fun, promotes safety, heightens knowledge, and by offering a full range of desirable services and benefits for its members.

GWRRA provides a culture which fosters members with shared values, team concepts and camaraderie. This culture also provides its members with opportunities for personal development and achievement.

In closing, we would again like to say thank you to all the Wing riders we have had the pleasure of meeting and calling friends. If we concentrate our efforts on each other for the good of the organization, the only things we will need to work on will be the safety and knowledge, the friends and fun will be there for all of us to enjoy.
